Sony Playstation Move Motion Controller: First Look Yesterday, Sony named and discussed their motion controller they actually announced last June. During the event Last June, Sony did not actually name the device and they only showed a prototype. At the yesterday, (March 10th) event, Sony went more in debt with the device, and even named it the Sony Move. The Sony Move is a device similar to the WiiMote and even Project Natal. The Sony Move comes along with a sub-controller, kind of like the wii nunchuck. Both of the devices have a black plastic matte finish and a bunch of buttons. The sub-controller has two analog sticks, as well. Sony announced they will be selling the Move along with a Sony Eye webcam and a game for under $100. Sony also announced there will be 20 games relating the Move before April 2011. Project Natal is the code name for a “controller-free gaming and entertainment experience” by Microsoft for the Xbox 360 video game platform. Based on an add-on peripheral for the Xbox 360 console, Project Natal enables users to control and interact with the Xbox 360 without the need to touch a game controller through a natural user interface using gestures, spoken commands, or presented objects and images. The project is aimed at broadening the Xbox 360’s audience beyond its typically hardcore base. Project Natal was first announced on June 1, 2009 at E3 2009. Microsoft said that over a thousand software development kits began shipping to game developers that same day. Though Microsoft has not officially announced any price or release date projections for Project Natal, it is expected to be released in late 2010. Project Natal will reportedly also serve as the basis for a “new” Xbox 360.

We all knew it was eventually coming, well here we finally go! The simple tagline explains it all, You are the controller! There will be a motion sensor camera that senses your every move, from driving to fighting. You will use your entire body to interact with the game with the use of full body motion capture. You can use your own gear to scan images, such as a skateboard that will be translated directly into the game. This new feature will also include voice recognition, for areas such as game shows where you will be able to shout out the answers and the game will understand what you say. The device is shown at the end of the trailer, pictures coming soon. I guess the motion sensor controller and the game was nothing but a rumor, but the motion sensor idea is indeed alive! It is announced to be called Project Natal and will work with every Xbox 360 as well as being sold with Xbox 360s in the future.

This video is of the new microsoft item and it is called project natal. What project natal does it is takes away the controllers for the xbox 360 and makes it all of a sencer witch dectects body move ments. This is much like the Wii but i many ways diffrent some diffrences are 1.No controllers for project natal 2.you have voice recagnition 3.there is facial recagnition These three things are why project natal is such an advanced device. I am looking foward to the releace of this product and will most likely get it with in the first month of its releace. 1.0 Introduction

Prof. Mfaniseni Sihlongonyane- Convener of the Undergraduate Planning Program, School of Architecture and Planning carried out a survey /half year overview of the first year performance and well being in order to assist the school in reflecting on their practice and planning forward. He then submitted the students’ response forms to my office for me (Liile Lekena) to summarize in my capacity as an Evaluations Consultant. This summary is in no way an exhaustive analysis of the data, it is just a preliminary presentation of the data as a thorough analysis would require more time than I have. I therefore highly recommend that the convener reads the data more in depth to extract more information for his purposes. I have prepared two separate summaries for Architecture and planning and they are contained in this report in that order as section 1 and section 2 respectively. The ordering does not presuppose any hierarchy; it is just a random arrangement.

 

 Section 1 is the summary the Architecture survey in which a total of 23 questionnaires were submitted for analysis. Generally the responses were positive, the students are content that they chose to study Architecture, they are passing, and they are motivated to continue with their studies. However, they do have issues or concerns with the amount of time they have to do their studies well, and cost of material they use in the course among other things.

 

Section 2 is the summary of the Planning survey. For this survey a total of 37 questionnaires were submitted for analysis. The overall picture drawn out of this survey is that they are doing fairly well in their studies although financial problems and   accommodation issues seem to need some attention for them to do even better.  A summary of the responses is provided under each question below and the verbatim students’ responses are attached as appendices.
